Why Join Rotary?
Membership Q & A
Q: What if I don't think I can come to the lunch meeting every week?
A: You don't have to come every week, but certainly try to get to at least 3 out of 4. If you can't make it any Rotary activity qualifies as a make up, and there are very easy ways to make up a meeting online.
Q: How much does Rotary cost?
A: Our dues are $160 A quarter, which includes weekly meals and dinner for our two special night time meetings- our holiday party and the installation dinner.
Q: What if I don't live in Amsterdam?
A: Most members are from the Montgomery/Fulton County area or work in Amsterdam. However, you can live anywhere as long as the meeting time (Wednesday’s at noon) is convenient. Many members have children or grandchildren in Amsterdam School District.
Q: How long are the lunch meetings and what goes on there?
A: Lunch meetings begin at 12:15 on Wednesdays at the Raindancer in Amsterdam with 15 minutes of fellowship. At 12:15, the president will "ring the bell" and we say the flag salute, a brief reflection and the "thought of the day." After lunch and a few minutes of announcements, the the speaker comes up for about 20 minutes. We are done around 1:00.
