On Monday, October 19th, the Amsterdam Rotary Club held an inaugural drive thru chicken parm dinner at Lorenzo’s Southside. It was a smashing success, as the club sold 793 dinners from 4pm-7pm. The drive-thru strategy was smooth and well thought out, thanks to the Lanzi Brothers coordinating the parking lot direction and precise kitchen procedure.
Despite the rainy weather, dozens of volunteers participated from Rotary and the beneficiaries of the evening, which include Fulmont Community Action Agency, Catholic Charities, Montgomery County Office for the Aging, and AMEN soup kitchen.
President Tim O’Brien said: “Our club couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this event. The COVID crisis has put some added strain on our local food pantries, so the proceeds from this event are going to be a tremendous help. We are extremely grateful for the volunteers, Lorenzo’s and for the community coming together to make it happen”.
The club also held a 50/50 raffle, led by Rotarian Jeanne So. In less than 3 hours, the club raised even more money thanks to her determination and hard-working efforts in the rain. The 50/50 total was $640, with Eben Miller winning the share of $320.
